Ok. Some better news today.
Samuel is doing much better. We started another medication, acetazolamide. While this may somewhat contraindicated for kidney disease his urine output and quality are good and have been for a while. It has done the trick which is what we needed.
The swelling beneath the bone flap area is improving. While there is definitely more fluid on his brain than before it is not pushing his brain beyond the opening. So long as he appears to be back to normal we will NOT give him a ventriculostomy or another shunt. The hope is that now that he has healed somewhat that he is now capable of maintaining his CSF levels on his own.
Back to Madonna tomorrow, though of course insurance is again putting its nose in and we have to be re-approved again. Should be fine though. I assume we will get our dismissal date pushed back though. We were admitted to Madonna a month ago, but two weeks of it has been spent at Bryan LGH. While we have made huge strides forward there is sooo much more to achieve.
I will soon be looking for work again because we will be back in Wichita. The other half of this equation is that I have sacrificed my resume and I’m not the most easily employable person due to Sam’s needs. If anyone has a lead for me gimme a call, text or email.

How is your day so far? I read some better news today. Glad to hear you are headed back to Madonna. I sure do wish there was something I could do to make your life so much easier. Just know that your Uncle Wesley, Calhoun and myself are praying daily for you and wish we could be there with you. LOTS OF HUGS AND KISSES
