So Here is the scoop.

Since we have been back at Madonna Samuel has made progress in leaps and bounds. In all areas he is becoming stronger and more capable.

He is walking as much as any one can. His balance is great. He gets a bit wobbly after hours of exertion but his stamina increases daily.

We walk down to all of our therapy appointments and to the classroom. We take all of our meals independently now. No more eating in our room and and our bed.

His arm strength is daily increasing. He can grasp things effectively with his right hand and we have begun weight training with both arms.

Speech therapy is his most difficult challenge. We still struggle when tired with even basic C-V sounds. His repertoire is increasing though. And his instinctive speech is clear and quick. It is only his intentional words that are a struggle with him. But with his mind being clearer he is able to write down the words he is trying to say.

All in all he is improving in every way. So after some pretty severe emotional debate his mother and I have decided his best option is to continue his outpatient here in Lincoln.

His estimated release date is May 22nd. Then we are looking at between 3 and 6 months of outpatient treatment. I will stay here with him for that. It is hard on all of us but it is what Sam needs most.
